Pizza Dough
Quick-rise dough for two cheesy homemade pizzas.
Makes 2 pizzas (20–25 cm) · Cook 10–15 min · 230 °C fan
You'll need
Dough
- 400 g plain white flour
- 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted
- 1 tsp caster sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp dried yeast, 1 × 7 g sachet
- 225 ml warm water
Toppings
- pizza sauce, see Pizza Base Sauce
- mozzarella, grated
- cheddar cheese, grated
- Red Leicester cheese, grated
Equipment
- mixing bowl
- rolling pin
- greaseproof paper
- 2 baking trays
Method
- Put the flour, salt and sugar in a mixing bowl and mix well.
- Add the yeast and stir in well.
- Make a well in the centre and pour in the oil, then the warm water.
- Bring together into a dough. Tip onto a floured surface and knead for 1 minute, just until smooth. Rest it under the upturned bowl while you sort the toppings.
- Divide into 2 balls. Roll each out on a lightly floured surface to about 20–25 cm across, pulling into shape as needed. Press the middle down so the edges stay thicker. Put each base on greaseproof paper.
- Spread with pizza sauce, then add lots of mozzarella, a little red leicester and cheddar, and more mozzarella.
- Turn the oven to 230 °C (fan) with the baking trays inside to heat. Leave the pizzas to rest and rise for 10–15 minutes while it heats.
- Slide the pizzas, still on their paper, onto the hot trays and bake for 10–15 minutes.
